Super Sixes Football Tournament
Coagh Primary School Finish Third at Dungannon ‘Super Sixes’ Football Tournament
Today, the Coagh Primary School football team travelled to Stangmore Park, home of Dungannon Swifts, to compete in the Dungannon ‘Super Sixes’ Football Tournament.
The team got off to a fantastic start in the group stages, recording victories over Donaghmore and St Mary’s before narrowly losing their final group game against Ballytrea. Those results were enough to secure a place in the semi-finals, where they faced Richmond Primary School.
In a closely contested match, Coagh unfortunately found themselves on the wrong side of a 2-1 scoreline. However, the players responded brilliantly in the 3rd/4th place play-off against Moy Primary School. After the match finished 1-1, Coagh held their nerve in the penalty shootout to secure victory and claim an excellent third-place finish.
This was a tremendous effort from the team as they looked to defend the title they won last year. Throughout the tournament, the players produced some outstanding football and scored a number of excellent goals.
Goal Scorers
- Eden – 4 goals
- Jackson – 4 goals
- Toby – 1 goal
- Bobby – 1 goal
A special mention must go to Rhys, whose three penalty saves in the play-off shootout proved decisive and helped secure third place for the team.
This tournament marked the final outing of the football team this year. It was also the last Coagh Primary School tournament for Eden and Jackson. While we will miss them next year, we would like to thank them for their commitment, effort and excellent performances over the past few years. They have been fantastic ambassadors for the school and we wish them every success in the future.
