Remembrance Day Music – P5/6 Learn About WW1 Music
As part of their World War I topic, our P5/6 pupils have been exploring the music of the time during a recent music lesson. The class learned about the different types of songs and instruments that were popular during the First World War and how music played an important role in boosting morale for soldiers and those at home.
Miss Bell gave a fantastic demonstration on how to play the cornet, an instrument often used in military bands. The pupils were then given the opportunity to try out the cornet themselves — with varying degrees of success!
It was a fun and memorable way to connect their history learning with music, helping pupils to better understand how sound and song were part of life during the war years.
