Celebrating Mrs Montgomery’s Retirement

At our Prize Day today, Coagh Primary School had the privilege of marking a very special milestone as we celebrated the retirement of Mrs Montgomery after almost 30 years of dedicated service.

There are some individuals whose impact on a school cannot be measured in years alone, and Mrs Montgomery is certainly one of those. For nearly three decades, Mrs Montgomery has been the friendly and reassuring presence welcoming generations of children into Primary One. Starting school is such an important milestone, and for countless pupils, she made that first step into education exciting, enjoyable and full of encouragement.

Although her heart firmly belonged in Primary One, Mrs Montgomery’s talents extended throughout the school, where she taught a range of year groups with equal enthusiasm and commitment. Many of the parents in our school community will fondly remember being taught by Mrs Montgomery themselves, and have since watched her teach their own children — a truly remarkable legacy.

Mrs Montgomery’s passion for art has been a defining feature of her teaching career. The beautiful artwork displayed throughout the school over the years stands as a testament to the creativity she inspired in her pupils. The high standard of work achieved under her guidance has been admired by all who visit Coagh Primary School.

Beyond the classroom, Mrs Montgomery has been a valued colleague and friend. Her experience, wisdom and willingness to support others have made a lasting difference to both teaching and non-teaching staff. Her professionalism has always been complemented by a wonderfully quick wit and sharp sense of humour, bringing warmth and laughter to many a busy school day.

As part of our Prize Day celebrations, Mrs Montgomery was presented with a special gift on behalf of pupils, parents and staff. We would like to sincerely thank our parents for their generous donations, which ensured that this was a truly meaningful and fitting token of our appreciation for everything she has given to our school community.

While Mrs Montgomery describes this next chapter as simply a “change of career”, we know that she leaves behind an extraordinary legacy. Her kindness, commitment and care have shaped the lives of hundreds of children and have helped define the culture and spirit of Coagh Primary School.

We wish Mrs Montgomery every happiness in the years ahead. She will always remain a valued part of the Coagh Primary School family, and we hope she will visit us often.

Thank you, Mrs Montgomery, for your outstanding contribution to Coagh Primary School.
