Tri County Hockey Tournament

1st Mar 2019

Coagh Primary School entered four teams into the Tri County Hockey Tournament held at Cookstown High School this morning.

Girls Tournament

Coagh ‘A’ Team- Casey, Cody, Ruby, Nicole, Aimee and Lily

Coagh ‘P5’ Team- Laura, Ella, Reana, Sasha, Scarlett, Sarah and Milana

Both teams played some good hockey and they developed as the tournament progressed. The goals were shared amongst Lily, Aimee and Nicole. Both goalkeepers, Laura and Casey played fantastically and made some super saves to keep both teams in their matches throughout. It was an excellent learning curve for the girls who competed really well against some experienced hockey players from Cookstown PS ‘A’ Team, Cookstown PS ‘B’ Team, Woods PS and Moneymore PS. All the girls enjoyed their matches and will have learned much from the tournament.

Boys Tournament

Coagh ‘A’ Team- Daniel, Toby, Jayden, Robbie, Noah and Ben

Coagh ‘Development’ Team- Oliwier, Rory, Seth, Caleb, Lewis, Joshua and Rhys

Both of the boys teams enjoyed the tournament with Coagh ‘A’ getting to the semi finals before losing to an excellent Donaghey PS team. Goals during the tournament were shared between Ben, Robbie, Rory, Joshua and Noah. Both the Coagh teams recorded victories during the tournament and narrowly lost out in a few close matches. Other teams in the tournament included Cookstown PS A Team, Cookstown PS B Team, Phoenix IPS, Orritor PS, Donaghey PS, Woods PS, Churchtown PS and Moneymore PS.

Well done to all four of our teams today. The next tournament will be at the end of March when Coagh Primary School will be entering one girl and one boys team into the Northern Ireland regional qualifying event in Omagh. Today’s tournament will help both our teams at the end of the month.

Thank you to Cookstown High School for the use of their wonderful pitches and to Cookstown Hockey Club who along with Mrs McClean helped organise todays tournament.
