It was great to attend the Cookstown Blitz Hockey Tournament at Cookstown High School this morning.
Coagh Primary School had one Girls Team and one Boys Team in the Tournament. For many of our team this was their first 'taste' of hockey within a tournament environment and everyone really 'raised their game' for the occasion.
** Girls Team **
The Girls played matches against- Killyman, Windmill, Woods, Ballytrea and Bush Primary Schools. Out of the five matches that they played the girls won 3 and lost narrowly in 2 games. There were excellent performances from all the girls and it was great to see the positive performances resulting in victories.
Goal scorers for the girls were- Leah (3 goals), Erin (2 goals) and Lana (1 goal)
The team was- Lori (GK), Amy, Rebecca, Leah, Erin, Lana, Elizabeth and Isla.
** Boys Team **
The Boys played matches against- Killyman, Cookstown, Donaghey, Ballytrea and Moneymore Primary Schools. All five matches were tightly contested with only a goal separating the teams on most occasions! All the team put in a great effort and were rewarded with 1 victory, 1 draw and three defeats with only the odd goal in it.
Goal scorers for the boys were- Jacob (2 goals) and Harry (1 goal)
The team was- Caleb (GK), James, Christian, Jacob, Shane, Harry, Micah, Ethan, Nathan and Alexander
Both teams are looking forward to the next blitz tournament which will hopefully take place during Term 2.
